NephCure Funded Research

The NephCure Foundation (NCF) is a non-profit organization and the only organization solely committed to seeking a cause and cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). NCF supports clinicians and researchers within this field through the NephCure Foundation Grant Program, NephCure Donor Advised Funds, Lunch and Learn Educational Seminars as well as Advocacy and Legislation. NephCure helps families come together for support, to become empowered with knowledge, to stay informed, and to work towards finding the answers. We are kidney diseases NS and FSGS. NephCure has committed $10 million towards research in recent years. These research grants are for projects aimed to discover findings that will help doctors and scientists learn more about Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS.

Current Funding Opportunities Updates:
Leadership at the Nephrotic Syndrome Study Network (NEPTUNE) are accepting applications for two programs:  the Ancillary Studies and the Career Development Training Program.  

• Ancillary studies - NEPTUNE will serve as a resource to the community of scientists and lay persons interested in studying FSGS, MN, or MCD. The Consortium's ability to share its systematically collected data, biological specimens, and infrastructure for future ancillary studies is as important to advancing this field as studies conducted directly by NEPTUNE. • Career Development program is designed to support advanced post-doctoral and junior faculty trainees, or established investigators interested in redirecting their investigative focus, who are preparing to become independent investigators in clinical and translational research in human glomerular disease.  Successful applicants will design and carry out an individually tailored program that combines a clearly defined training component with a mentored research experience that employs the unique resources of NEPTUNE. NephCure Research Program:
In 2008, our dedication to our mission became manifest when we enthusiastically announced the NephCure Foundation Grant Program, with the mission of advancing and supporting research in the field of Nephrology specifically to understand the cause and identify treatments or a cure for NS and FSGS. NephCure accepts investigator initiated applications in response to a formal Request for Applications ranging from Basic Science, Translational Science and Clinical Science in four categories, the NephCure Post-Doctoral Fellowship Grant, Young Investigator Career Development Grant, the Established Investigator Grant and the Bridge Grant. With 85% of all donations earmarked for educational and research purposes, NephCure is proud to announce, to date, we committed over $10,000,000 to fund research since awarding our first grant. Eligibility requirements:

1.   Basic science relevant to FSGS and other diseases that result in Nephrotic Syndrome. The organization encourages submission of work with translational relevance; 

2.   Preliminary clinical studies for the purpose of developing preliminary results that might justify larger more sophisticated clinical studies.

3.   Principal investigator must hold a MD, PhD or an equivalent advanced degree.

4.   Applications should be investigator initiated.

5.   Applications from any country or nationality will be considered
