Grant Process Mechanism

There two mechanisms for submission of applications for grant awards.

  1. Investigator initiated applications submitted in response to a formal Request for Applications (RFA) issued by the Foundation.

NOTE: At present, the parameters for funding and the deadline for submission of applications for the next RFA have not been finalized. Investigators are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to be notified by the Foundation when a new RFA is issued. EOIs and other inquirers should be directed to research@nephcure.org.

  1. Investigator initiated application for NephCure’s Directed Research Program.

NephCure will accept applications for support of scientific investigations off-schedule from its Request for Applications Program to meet special circumstances. These applications must address basic, translational or clinical science investigations that advance NephCure’s mission to find the cause, better treatments and a cure for primary FSGS and other diseases that cause idiopathic Nephrotic Syndrome. All grant applications will be peer-reviewed.

Priority consideration will be given to requests for support that are:

  • Entrepreneurial in nature or address an unmet need in scientific research associated with glomerular disease (in general) and FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome (more specifically)
  • Associated with matching funds from the applicant investigator’s institution/organization
  • “Bridge” grants or short term agreements

Investigators interested in applying for support through NephCure’s Directed Research Portfolio must send a Letter of Interest (LOI) outlining the proposed investigation and describing how the request meets the above criteria.  LOIs and other inquirers should be directed to research@nephcure.org.

NephCure' support of the Directed Research Portfolio Program is discretionary and dependent on budget allocations made by NephCure’s Board of Directors each year.
