Dr. Jochen Reiser is a nephrologist with a research interest in molecular analysis of proteinuria mechanisms, cell biology and drug discovery for kidney podocytes.  His laboratory is engaged with active research programs in the characterization of glomerular disease as enzymatic disease, the role of the ion channel TRPC6 in the regulation of podocyte structure and function, the role of urokinase receptor in podocyte motility and homeostasis, and defining podocyte metabolism in health and disease.  After being recruited from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital to assume the position of Chief of the Nephrology Division at Miami, Dr. Reiser expanded the research faculty to include increased diversity and strengths in clinical and basic research as well as drug discovery.  Dr. Reiser received his M.D. from Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg and completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center.
