Nephletes Raise over $68K at Falmouth Road Race

photoThe 39th running of the Falmouth Road Race took place on Sunday, August 14, and the spirit which made the first race so special is still evident today. Among the 12,000 participants who ran under perfect running conditions were 14 Nephletes, who raised a combined total of over $68,000 for The NephCure Foundation.

Excitement was in the air six miles into the seven-mile race, as families and friends watched for each Nephlete to run by. Each runner proudly donned the photo of the four children being run in honor of; Andrew, Nick, Emma and Loretta.

“As I started out on the race course, all I could think about was how it is only through supportive and caring people like you (the donors) that NephCure can continue to fund research seeking to find a cure for FSGS,” said Elise Warhaftig, who was the leading fundraiser with close to $35,000, running in honor of her son, Andrew.  “Hopefully Andrew will one day live his life without this terrible kidney disease.  Thank you for caring and for helping to make a difference!”

Other Nephletes included Dawn Siebert, running in honor of her daughter Loretta, Jen Bresciano, running in honor of her son Nick, Greg Raftery, running in honor of his daughter Emma and Liz Collins-Adam, Margaret Fawley, Heather Harris, Tina Hartnett, Loren Winters, Rick Winters, Dot Helling, Sue Emmons, AJ Bresciano and Kristie Barber.

Congratulations to each one of our Falmouth Road Race Nephletes for all of their hard work, training and fundraising. Thanks to you, this year’s Falmouth Road Race was an overwhelming success!
