Walk for Dawn Evans Raises Over $2,000

photoThe inaugural NephCure Walk at James Madison University in honor of NephCure Ambassador Dawn Evans took place on Friday, April 22 and raised over $3,000 in the fight against FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome.

The walk started at the JMU Convocation Center and was attended by Dawn's fellow students, teammates and university groups.

"It was great to see so many people here in support of the walk," said Evans, who suffers from the kidney disease FSGS.

Evans just concluded her colligate playing career this year, ending as JMU's all-time leading scorer. She led the Dukes to consecutive Colonial Athletic Association titles and back-to-back berths in the NCAA Tournament. Her off-the-court battle and her efforts to raise awareness for NephCure helped her win the V Foundation Comeback Player of the Year Award. Click here to read more.

Evans' efforts for NephCure helped generate nearly $10,000 for NephCure, as the Sign on for Dawn campaign raised over $7,000 as well. She was also the focus of a number national stories that helped raise awareness of these kidney distroying diseases. Click here to read those stories.

Nephcure would like to thank the JMU women's basketball team and staff, the Crown Club and the Evans family for their support of this walk.
