Part Time Research Assistant (Berwyn, PA)  

Position Summary:
This is a part time role to research organizing a non-profit foundation in different countries. Individual needs to be resourceful and confident researching requirements and regulations in different countries. This does not require an attorney but someone with attorney-like analytical skills and attention to detail is a plus. May be a good role for a Masters or MBA student.

Requirements:

Position: Program Coordinator - multiple locations

Position Summary:  Mid-level leadership contract role responsible for developing NephCure’s presence in Canada by cultivating relationships with patients and members of the medical community, coordinating and managing grassroots programs such as walks, rides and family fundraisers and overseeing other outreach efforts on behalf of NephCure. Role requires fundraising experience, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, multi-task proficiency and follow-through. Applicant should be an outgoing self-starter with a fundraising mindset. Experience with non-profits required.  

*This position is a non-employee contract position with the possibility of full employment based on performance and regional growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Enhance NephCure’s base by cultivating positive, long-term relationships with patients and volunteers in Canada, through face to face meetings and regular communication. Recruit new constituents with support from NephCure staff and patient families. Use social media tools, NephCure staff leads and other resources to find patients. 
  • Develop, coordinate and manage grassroots events and programs that generate revenue and increase the visibility of the organization including but not limited to
    • Mobilizing volunteers and working with committee to plan event
    • Monitoring inventory of promotional and incentive materials required for events and outreach initiatives. Coordinating with NephCure on content updates and distribution.
    • Acknowledging volunteer efforts
    • Providing fiscal oversight of assigned budgets using NephCure reports and evaluations. Maintaining efficient records.
    • Regular communication with NephCure staff to achieve organization’s goals of maximizing patient outreach efforts, identifying potential donors and enhancing the visibility of NephCure and its mission.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years experience in a fundraising, communications, event management, or marketing role.
  • Experience organizing walks, rides or other grassroots initiatives using online marketing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, Sales and presentation experience a plus
  • Ability to travel within your respective region
  • Must have a car, laptop and cell phone
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office

Position: Patient Registry Recruitment Coordinator

Position Summary: Mid-level leadership role focused on identifying people with these rare diseases and increasing enrollment in the NephCure Kidney Network (NKN) – a patient registry and a patient powered research network. Role will develop and execute on outreach campaigns to patients, their families and their healthcare providers to encourage participation in NKN. This registry is an important asset to help build community for families dealing with these rare diseases and to accelerate research that will improve healthcare and find new treatments. Role requires the ability to work independently and with diverse constituencies including patients, their families, researchers, physicians and other healthcare providers, internal staff, Scientific Advisory Committees and other volunteers. Best candidate has experience working with patient families and medical professionals as well as strong interpersonal skills, an empathetic demeanor, attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.  Ideal candidate has the above along with experience with clinical research and/or patient registries. Position reports to the NKN Patient Registry Program Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruit members to participate in the NKN Patient Registry – A Patient Powered Research Network
  • Be a primary point-of-contact for new patients; provide support, empathic understanding and information about the registry and clinical research
  • Work effectively with NephCure partners to conduct community outreach. Prepare NKN-specific outreach content and material for regional patient events such as Lunch & Learns, Walks and patient webinars. Ensure that outreach engages a broad spectrum of potential participants, including underrepresented minorities and those with limited or no access to computers.
  • Work effectively with NephCure partners to conduct outreach to healthcare providers including adult and pediatric nephrologists, renal nurses, transplant coordinators, renal social workers, and other professionals who provide services to Nephrotic Syndrome patients. Interact with professional organizations such as the American Society of Nephrology to improve physician awareness and patient referrals.
  • Develop a Patient Ambassador program and train volunteers to serve as community recruiters.
  • Support recruitment requests from approved researchers and study coordinators in academia (medical centers) and industry (pharmaceutical companies).
  • Assist NKN Program Manager with program governance and compliance programs
  • Prepare and report administrative and statistical reports; maintain correspondence and update data base systems
  • Conduct site visits to speak about NKN
  • Attend industry conferences
  • Support NephCure special events and perform other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience preferably in healthcare/ clinical research settings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated effective use of communication approaches and channels including social media, in-person meetings, webinars, emails, telephone calls, etc. to build relationships and engagement
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and balance multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; self starter, enthusiastic, self-motivated
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and experience with database systems; use of  Blackbaud database systems, particularly The Raiser’s Edge, is a plus
  • Knowledge of kidney diseases and relevant drugs is a big plus
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel occasionally is required
