Marilyn Hailperin, Rob Hastings Join NephCure

photoNephCure Foundation Executive Director Henry Brehm has announced the hiring of Marilyn Hailperin as Research and Education Manager and Rob Hastings as Director of Development.

The NephCure Foundation, based in Berwyn, PA, is the only organization solely committed to seeking a cause and cure for the kidney diseases Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis  (FSGS). Comprised of patients, their families and friends, researchers, physicians and other healthcare professionals, NephCure aims to help science unlock the biological mechanisms that cause these serious diseases and ultimately find a way to cure and prevent them.

“These are critical roles in our organization,” said Brehm. “I believe Marilyn and Rob will bring a level of expertise and experience that will help us to continue to grow to new levels.”

Hailperin joins NephCure after two previous phases of a career that, when combined, make her uniquely qualified for her new position. In her new role at NephCure, she will combine skills and experience gained in her first career as a scientist with the project management and organizational development skills she acquired in the corporate healthcare business world.

Hailperin, who resides in Cherry Hill, NJ, received her B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.S. in Clinical Microbiology from Thomas Jefferson University School of Graduate Studies. She worked as the Assistant Microbiologist for the Pepper Laboratories of the Department of Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for several years and participated in peer reviewed Bacteriology and Virology research.

After leaving Penn, Hailperin spent the next 20 years as a management consultant and executive of several healthcare information technology services firms. She specialized in building lines of business around emerging technology.

Hastings comes to NephCure with a background that includes considerable non-profit fundraising experience as well as extensive knowledge of finance and business. His focus with NephCure will be on securing major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations. A primary objective will be the launch of NephCure’s “Got Hope” campaign, which seeks to raise $5 million over the next several years.

Hastings has raised money for several non-profit organizations in the suburban Philadelphia area. For the last three years, he has served as the Chair of the Alumni Annual Fund at The Haverford School in Haverford, PA. He also serves on The Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation Board, the Parent Fund Council at The Agnes Irwin School, and has run several campaigns for St. David’s Church (Radnor, PA). Most recently, he joined The Haverford School Board of Trustees.

A Rosemont, PA resident, Hastings has worked in operations, credit analysis, and trust administration for JP Morgan Securities, Deutsche Bank Trust Company, and most recently, Hirtle, Callaghan & Co.
