NephCure President Hosts Leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives

Nephcure Foundation founders Irv and Carol Smokler recently hosted a discussion on FSGS with leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Steve Israel (D-NY), and Ted Deutch (D-FL) met with the Smoklers to review issues related to support for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the NIH portfolio related to Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and other glomerular diseases.

During the meeting, they discussed the social impact of FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome (NS).

The House leaders were particularly interested in learning about the disproportionate impact of FSGS on minority populations and how the NIH is supporting a nationwide network of research institutions on NS.

The leaders pledged to review the NIH research portfolio on glomerular disease research and use their influence to continue to advance this important area of study.
