FSGS Trials: The Details

Number of Patients: 500

Eligibility

Medications

All patients to receive alternative day oral prednisone, PLUS an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), PLUS an ACE inhibitor.

Half the patients, in random selection, will receive the immunosuppressant cyclosporine. The other half will receive the immunosuppressant mycophenolate mofetil (MMF, brand name CellCept) and pulse treatments of dexamethasone, a synthetic adrenocortical steroid.

Five Core Clinical Centers

State University of New York, Stony Brook; Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y.; SeattleChildren's Medical Center; Medical City Dallas Hospital; and the University of North Carolina.The data-coordinating center is the Cleveland Clinic, and NephCure will fund ancillary studies.
