Nicolette's Story

Nicolette's Story

I was a second year student at the time I started having problems with my kidney. I didn’t drink or smoke and I lived a very active lifestyle. It came as a shock when I was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome.

In 2009, during my second semester (around August), I was sitting with a friend watching a movie at our boarding house when my friend noticed that my feet were swollen.

Ty's Story

Ty's Story

Ty was born on Halloween in 2003. He was a very happy and healthy little boy with no medical problems until June 2007. We first noticed that Ty was putting on weight rather quickly and dismissed it as a growth spurt. Then he started complaining that his legs were hurting him. We contributed this to his swimming lessons.

Her hands, feet and ankles became swollen so we rushed her to the hospital. Tests indicated that Alexis has Nephrotic Syndrome (NS).

Hannah's Story

Hanna R

My name is Hannah. When I was fifteen, I was diagnosed with a very severe case of FSGS. We caught it by accident through a routine blood test that revealed my cholesterol to be 400, even though I appeared to be a healthy teenager! Because there was also protein in my urine, I was referred to a nephrologist, and so my story begins!
