Liam

This is Liam's Story

My name is Liam and I live in the UK in Kent. I am 18 years old and a sufferer of FSGS; although, I hate the word sufferer. I was diagnosed with FSGS when I was 2 ½ and have battled through thick and thin in order to be where I am today. At the time of reading this, I will be on a chemotherapy course in order to try and make my kidneys respond to steroids.

I have been through a real journey and have been on many different drugs, from cyclosporine to mycophenalate mofetil, and even a drug used in Africa for worms, sadly none of these worked and I am possibly on the last drug I can try before the doctors give up with tablets and put me on Dialysis.  I hope it won’t come to this although if it does, then it does, and that’s life.

Despite all this happening to me in my small lifetime I have still managed to do many things, and with missing lots of school, I still haven’t done too badly for myself. I currently work at Doctors Surgery (seems like I’m always at one hospital or another), and I also run my own pc repair business with my younger brother.
