Second
Annual Seattle 100 Fundraiser Planned!
The second
annual “Seattle 100 - Racing Towards a Cure for
Kidney Disease” will take place on Wednesday,
September 8, 2004 at Pacific Raceway's road course
(formerly Seattle International Raceway) in Auburn
, WA . The event will go from approximately 8
a.m. to 5 p.m. , with time to celebrate the day's
festivities and good cause afterwards. The purpose
of the event is to raise money to further the
NephCure mission to support research seeking
the cause of Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS, improve
treatment and find the cure. The Seattle 100
was created by NephCure Vice President and co-founder
Brian Orton , whose son was diagnosed with minimal
change nephrotic syndrome at ten months of age.
Thankfully, Christian has been in remission for
3 years now, and doctors are amazed with how
well he is doing.
The Seattle
100 is not a race. It's a road course endurance
event for charity, with event riders attempting
to complete 100 laps around the course by the
lap deadline of 4pm . While speed will play a
role in the event, because completing 100 laps
is the equivalent of 230 miles, it will not be
a sprint-type race. Nobody wins any prizes for
crossing a finish line, or completing 100 laps
first.
Professional
motorcycle road racer Jason Pridmore will be
joining us for this year's Seattle 100 fundraising
event at Pacific Raceways. Erion Honda racing
star Jake Zemke will join in the festivities
as well. Depending on his standings at the time
of the event, he may or may not ride a Honda
with us... but he'll be there to meet and greet
fans, as well as fill in as a 2Fast guest instructor.
