Family Fun Fair 2005

On a very hot Sunday on June 26, 2005, Donna Colucci and Michele Moeller, The North Jersey Chapter of NephCure, Co-Chaired the first Family Fun Fair in Bergenfield, NJ.

"It was a fantastic event despite the hot day", says Donna, whose 11 year old son is in remission after having battled with Nephrotic Syndrome for the past nine years. The Family Fun Fair was broadcasted by a local TV station for two weeks supporting NephCure's efforts to increase awareness of Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS.

The event offered lots of fun for children and a great time-out for their parents. While the children enjoyed the may rides as well as having their hair braided and faces painted, their parents and friends strolled around enjoying the music, participating in raffles, and visited the vendor tables. Some even had their back adjusted by a chiropractor.

In addition, the Family Fun Fair featured a Wall of Hope and Inspiration recognizing FSGS & Nephrotic Syndrome patients, kidney donors and recipients, and those involved with organ donation and transplantation.

"We helped to bring the community together [...] for a worthy cause", states Michele, co-chair of the event and kidney donor, and adds, "it was a huge success giving NephCure Foundation proceeds over $6,000 to help our children and our loved ones."

The Family Fun Fair benefited The NephCure Foundation, supporting its mission to raise awareness and funds for a cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS.
