Local Boy Honored by Fundraiser
Aimed at
Finding a Cure for Two Debilitating Kidney
Diseases
ROMEOVILLE, IL – November 29, 2007 – Sam
Rogers, a five year old native of Romeoville, IL, has
inspired Rick Trummer from Madison, WI, to host a fundraiser
aimed at raising funds and awareness for two debilitating
kidney diseases.
Rogers was diagnosed with
the kidney disease Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis
(FSGS) at the age of two. FSGS
is a condition that causes protein to leak out of the
blood. The cause of the disease is unknown and
there is no cure.
The goal of the fundraiser
is to raise $5,000 by March 15, 2008. If that goal is reached, Trummer has
agreed to shave his head in front of all of his peers
at a trade show convention. If donations exceed
$6,000, Trummer will also shave is mustache.
“It will be tough to part with my hair, but
my mustache is another matter,” said Trummer. Trummer
and Paul Rogers met at various photography seminars.
Sam and his family have teamed
up with The NephCure Foundation, an organization
solely committed to seeking a cause and cure for
two potentially devastating kidney diseases, Nephrotic
Syndrome and FSGS.
The initial $5,000 will be
donated to The NephCure Foundation. Any donations
received after the initial goal of $5,000 will go
to Sam’s family to help
pay for his medical bills.
