Countdown to a Cure Boston Recognizes Two Doctors
for Kidney Disease Research
Event Raised Funds and Awareness for The NephCure Foundation
(Quincy, MA) – Dr. Martin Pollak and Dr. Michael Somers were honored for their work seeking a cause and cure for the kidney diseases Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) at Countdown to a Cure: An Evening Under the Stars on March 29 at the Boston Marriott in Quincy.
The pair was acknowledged by The NephCure Foundation’s inaugural Boston “Countdown to a Cure” event featuring a VIP reception, special film and awards presentation.
Dr. Pollak, Principal Investigator, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Institutes of Medicine was recognized for his lab’s outstanding work in identifying genes that underlie the development of FSGS.
Dr. Somers, Pediatric Nephrologist, Director of Clinical Serves, from Children’s Hospital Boston was honored for his extraordinary dedication to caring for patients and families affected by Nephrotic Syndrome, FSGS and other kidney diseases.
The Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe inspired evening included a cocktail reception, special program, a silent and reverse auction, a three-course dinner and entertainment featuring 2007 PopSearch Finalists.
Proceeds benefit The NephCure Foundation which is the only organization solely committed to seeking a cause and cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). It aims to help science unlock the biological mechanisms that cause these serious diseases and ultimately find a way to cure and prevent them.
The NephCure Foundation appreciates the outstanding efforts of the committee and their family and friends.
