Change for a Cause
Ring Factory Elementary, Harford County, MD

Each year, as part of our character education program, the student council holds a fundraising event to promote caring and responsibility.  This year in honor of a former employee and her daughter, a former student of Ring Factory Elementary who has been diagnosed with FSGS, we chose The NephCure Foundation. 

We are trying to bring awareness of this devastating disease to our school population.  Each morning the students share facts about the kidneys, kidney disease and NephCure's mission during the morning announcements.  The students chose the name "Change for a Cause" for our event.  Students are encouraged to bring in change from home, give up buying a snack one day at lunch and donate that money, or ask family members to donate their change.  We do this each year around the holidays with the spirit of giving in mind. 

So far, the students have raised $200.00.  Ring Factory Elementary is located in Harford County, MD.  Our school was founded in 1990.  We have 524 students and approximately 65 staff members.
