Evans, who completed her college career in 2011 as the Colonial Athletic Association's all-time leading scorer, was featured on a seven-minute segment on the 30-minute show, which profiles young role models.

Evans excelled on the court despite battling a degenerative kidney disease (FSGS) that causes her kidneys to function at only 20 percent.  To help raise awareness, she serves as an Ambassador for The NephCure Foundation, which funds research to find a cause and a cure for kidney disease.  She has spent numerous hours counseling young children who are afflicted with the disease.

The segment, introduced by WNBA player Tamika Catchings, profiles Evans' success as an NCAA Division I athlete while battling kidney disease.

In 2011 Evans received honorable mention All-America accolades for the second year in a row.  She led JMU to its second consecutive CAA championship and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer for the second time.

Evans ranked second in the nation in scoring (23.1 points per game) last season and became the all-time leading scorer in JMU and CAA history with 2,667 points.  The Dukes' guard was chosen as the Player of the Year in the state of Virginia, was on the "watch lists" for the Wooden Award, Wade Trophy and Naismith Trophy as the nation's top player, and was a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award as the top point guard in the country.

She received first-team All-CAA honors for the third straight year and made the WBCA All-Region squad for the second straight season.

Evans was honored with the 2011 V Foundation Comeback Award, which is given to a collegiate basketball student-athlete who has accomplished personal triumph in the face of true adversity.  She was also the recipient of the CAA’s John Randolph Inspiration Award in 2010 and was a finalist for the 2010 Honda Inspiration Award and the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
