Introducing
the "Carolinas" Chapter
Our family
is very thankful that there is now a foundation
that will focus primarily on Nephrotic Syndrome
and FSGS and we are excited to start a chapter
here in the Carolinas . As we start this chapter,
we have several goals in mind. First, as we learn
more, we hope to help guide others affected and
help them understand as much as we know about
what is happening to them. Second, we would like
to contact more nephrologists in our area and
let them know who Nephcure is and ask them to
provide information about this disease to their
patients. The third goal of our chapter would
be to develop more fund raising activities. Through
this we would also bring more awareness to this
disease that many have never heard of. We are
grateful to those who have written us and ask
that you keep in contact via email, rmiller396@aol.com.
I would like
to mention that my three daughters also will
be raising money for this cause on October 2.
They are busy planning a 5K run/walk on the Virginia
Creeper Trail in Bristol, Va., hence, “Creeping
for a Cure.” Knowing that all money raised
will be matched by a grant from the government,
they are working very hard to drum up community
support. In addition to planning the walk, they
are writing a guide to the steps they have taken
to plan the event. Please contact us at the email
address above if you are interested in joining
us on the walk, donating to receive a “Creeping
for a Cure” t-shirt, or are interested
in help planning this type of event in your area.
You can also find more information about the
run/walk on the Nephcure.org website with our
link under the fundraising menu as the event
draws closer.
