In recent years, NephCure has dedicated over $6 million for research into FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome.
Broderick, of Cohasset, MA, also leads the New England chapter. A graduate of Providence College, she is co-owner of the consulting firm Minot Consulting LLC. Her family has been active in NephCure for a number of years, organizing walks and visiting Washington, DC, as advocates. Her son suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome.
McDonough resides in Santa Monica, CA. An undergrad of UC-Berkeley and law school graduate of the University of Michigan, she leads the Los Angeles chapter and is currently an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP. Her four-year-old daughter has Nephrotic Syndrome.
“As a parent with a sick child suffering from a condition without a known cause or cure, there are few things within my control,” McDonough said. “Working with the Board toward finding treatments and a cure provides the opportunity to do something to help not only my daughter but the countless other families that deal with this disease every day.”
Cascio is from Northport, NY, and has been active with The Nephcure Foundation since 2007, leading the Long Island chapter and fundraising walk. Cascio is currently a Registered Nurse at Stony Brook University Medical Center and has over 26 years of experience in the renal field. Among her many responsibilities, Cascio educates and oversees the care of children with all types of kidney disease. She also conducts renal lectures for nursing students.
“Being named to the Board is both an honor and a responsibility,” said Cascio. “As an active member of the Board I hope to raise awareness for NephCure within the health care community and help in anyway I can to find answers to these devastating kidney diseases.”
