NephCure Walk at Camden Yards raises over $10,000- June 13, 2009

Nephcure Foundation board member and former Orioles VP, Jim Duquette, and his family raised over $10,000 on Saturday, June 13 during their annual NephCure Walk in Baltimore, MD.

Central NJ NephCure Walk - October 3, 2009

Over 75 walkers participated in the second annual  NephCure Walk in Central NJ.  Walkers enjoyed refreshments,  music, sand art, face painting and tattoos.  Thompson Park in Monroe Township NJ also has an animal preserve, and the kids loved seeing all of the deer, rabbits, ducks, and more.  Over $17,000 was raised at this event.  Special thanks to the Lasky family, Semegram family and Byrne family.

Long Island NephCure Walk -  October 4, 2009

In it’s third year, the Long Island NephCure walk broke all of the goals it had set.  With over 300 walkers in attendance, and raising over $85,000, all of the walkers had a great time.  Special guest Quackerjack from the Long Island Ducks made an appearance, as well as Elmo.  There was  a moon bounce, popcorn machine, lots of refreshments, pizza and more.  The band Asking Transit played live to entertain thewalkers as well as a DJ.  Asking Transit’s own drummer, Ben Kazenoff suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome.  The walk was held at the town of Brookhaven Ecology Site in Holtsville, NY.  Special thanks to the planning committee for making this such a great event.  Thanks to the Stuart Family, Wolf Family, Zamayer Family, Cascio Family, Genatt Family, Levine Family, Spirio family, Quatrale Family, Siegel Family, and the Brink Family for making this such a memorable event.

South Jersey NephCure Walk - October 4, 2009

Cooper River Park served as the perfect location for the third annual NephCure walk in South Jersey.  Over $28,000 has been raised to support the mission ofNephCure.  The weather was picture perfect on this Sunday for a walk that had great refreshments, a DJ, an Elvis impersonator, and much more.  There was an AMAZING basket raffle put together by Anne Fenimore and her committee.  Over 80 baskets were raffled off at the walk and a great time was had by all.

Leonia, NJ - October 11, 2009

The third annual NephCure walk was held at Overpeck County Park in Leonia, NJ.  Over  100 walkers and 8 patient families participated in this successful walk that raised over $10,000.  This walk featured a DJ, face painting, an appearance by Jack the Jackal, a day of event raffle, refreshments and more.  Special thanks to Donna Colucci for all of her hard work and commitment to NephCure.

Yorktown Heights – October 11. 2009

FDR State park served as the perfect location once again for the Yorktown Heights Walk.  100 walkers participate this event that raised over $18,000.  This event featured a special guest appearance by teen singing sensation Tiffany Giardina.  The walk also featured air-brush tattoos, lots of refreshments, music and more.  Special thanks to Andrea Kosakowski for helping to organize this great event.

Chesterbrook, PA- October 11, 2009

This third annual Philadelphia area walk was held at the Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook, PA.  Over 200 walkers participated at this event that raised over $25,000.  Special guest appearance by the Wilmington Blue Rocks Mascot Rocky Bluewinkle.  This event also featured a DJ, crafts for the kids, face painting and lots of refreshments.  Special thanks to the planning committee: Josh and Cori Stelzer,  Kate and Mike Meredith, Nicole Waetzman, Liz Casals, and Wilma MacKay.

Chicago, IL NephCure Walk - October 11, 2009

Over 100 walkers attended the third annual walk in Chicago, IL on Sunday, October 11, 2009. The event was an overall success raising over $15,000. Despite the freezing cold, the group enjoyed the walk and many activities were provided for the kids. After the walk, a lunch was provided by Moody’s Bar and Grill which sponsored the walk for the third straight year. Montreal, Canada NephCure Walk - October 24, 2009

The first-ever NephCure Walk in Montreal Canada raised over $17,000 on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Over 100 walkers participated in the event. Kids enjoyed face painting and DJ and many families showed up to support the walk efforts. Baton Rouge, LA NephCure Walk- November 7, 2009

On Saturday, November 7, 2009 roughly 200 walkers participated in the first year walk in Baton Rauge on the Louisiana State University campus. The event was a success raising over $30,000. Walkers enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate, Jambalaya, and raffles. Kids activities and a DJ was provided in addition to 25 cakes all baked by Team J walkers. The Honorary Chair was Maren Crowton, wife of Gary Crowton, offensive coordinator for LSU Football. The event was chaired by John Roy and Chelsey Roy. Special thanks to the Roy Family, Donna Pheland, Jon and Debbie Brehm, Kris Heidingsfelder & Family, Holly Flattman & Family, Kim Landry, Rebecca & Shawn Billiot, Amy Vollman and Scott Robb.

Orange County, CA - November 14, 2009

The OC held its walk at the beautiful Fountain Valley Sports Complex on November 14.  More than 72 Walkers joined with 51 volunteers from Local Schools and Honor Societies.  The friends, families and co-workers banded together to create a fun filled, joyous Walk for NephCure.  Special thanks to Delta Sigma Pi, The Ambassadors, Alpha Phi Omega and Volunteer Clowns of Orange County.  Marlon Ransom created a YouTube video of the day.  You can see it at Tyler's NephCure Walk

Los Angeles, CA - November 15, 2009

The LA walked in force the following day, November 15 on a sun filled, iconic southern California day.  125 Walkers and  with more than 18 Volunteers walked the neighborhood of Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica.  Special thanks to the McDonough Family who raised more than $30,000 and brought a huge walk team to the Los Angeles event.

Tampa NephCure Walk – December 12, 2009

The first NephCure Walk Tampa Bay took place at beautiful Sand Key Park in Clearwater, Florida. Over 110 people joined us for a beach-front walk to raise awareness and funds for NephCure. With over $25,000.00 raised, we not only met our goal but exceeded it!  Walkers enjoyed complementary coffee, bagels, doughnuts, bananas, granola bars and bottled waters as well as goody bags and great raffle items. Two patient families served on the local committee and tremendous progress was made in generating awareness of NephCure and especially Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS. Dr. Sharon Perlman, a local pediatrician and pediatric nephrologists attended the walk, spoke during the program and helped cut the ribbon as we launched the inaugural walk in the Tampa Bay area.  Special thanks to the Warner family, the Wellman-Fisk family, all the volunteers who helped with set-up, registration and tear down, Dr. Perlman, County Commissioner Calvin Harris and Dave “Pay Me” Yost for making the first walk so successful!
